Sydney Audio Club Meeting - April 2026

Picture
Sunday 12th April 2026: The April meeting will showcase Richter Audio.

The February meeting will also include a Tech Talk covering the design principles and how their goals were achieved.

T
he doors will be open from 12:30pm for members to meet and greet prior to the Tech Talk commencing from 1:00pm, with the regular music session to follow from around 2:15 to 5:00pm.

Dear members and friends of Sydney Audio Club Inc.,

The next Sydney Audio Club meeting for 2026 will be on the 8th of February with a presentation of loudspeakers by another Australian company Lenehan Brothers from the Gold Coast.

There will be a TechTalk this month by Russell Lenehan covering the design principles and how their goals were achieved, starting at 1.00 pm.

TechTalk Details:
Design Goals: Flat frequency response in room - Smooth off axis response to provide large listening area and minimizing boundary reflection anomalies - Linear phase response - Phase and amplitude correct crossover integration - Minimal enclosure energy storage and self noise - Complete structural isolation between Speaker system and room - High power handling - Smooth impedance curve: Able to be driven by both Tube and Solid-state electronics.

Development: New material research for lower energy storage, higher rigidity and greater damping - Component and driver choice and development - 2 way floorstanding speaker

The doors will be open from around 12:30pm to meet and chat with members before the TechTalk. As our club is based on mutual respect, especially in these open presentations, let us remain respectful towards one another’s views and opinions.

There will be one short break after the TechTalk before the meeting starts around 2:15pm.  There will be an afternoon tea break mid-afternoon before the meeting finishes at 5:00pm.

Guests are welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don’t need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound. If you happen to be late just quietly slide into a seat and join the meeting. To our guests, we respect the music being played so we request that you refrain from talking while music is being presented. There will be plenty of time for friendly banter between tracks and during the breaks.
DETAILS OF THE SYSTEM:

Speakers: Lenehan Brothers System 1 speaker system.
Designed by Mike Lenehan, the System 1 is a stand mount 2 way dynamic speaker. The System 1 includes the dedicated tuned isolation stands, and are essential to maximise the performance of the speaker system in room. Solid wood cabinets, crafted from sustainable timbers are used exclusively. The cabinets are all new, featuring different and improved materials, refined construction methods that increase rigidity and further reduce energy storage and self noise.

The second half of the music session is designed to help you evaluate the system with music that you are familiar with. All members and guests are welcome to offer music to share with us all. For this meeting you may bring some music choices via streaming, or USB / CD playable on the club’s Reavon player.

All we ask is that the music and recordings be interesting. We'll ask you to tell us a little about the artist/recording before it is played. Tracks over 5 minutes will be faded out, to give everyone a fair go.

Whether you are a novice or a seasoned veteran, you will have the opportunity to listen, learn and share your experiences with others. Feel free to come and hear the capabilities of the system, or to just share the experience with like-minded music lovers in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Guests are welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound.
