Sunday 15th June 2025: The June meeting will be a 'Vinyl lead' meeting, and feature Equipment and a Presentation from Stephen Price, from Secret Chord Analogue. The equipment will include a Thorens TD126 Turntable, Elekit tube phono Pre-Amp and Elekit tube Power Amp and Secret Chord Analogue Confluence open baffle Loudspeakers.

There will be some Record Restore samples to give those members who attend the Tech Talk and who may be interested in conducting their own trial.

The doors will be open from 12:30pm to meet and chat with members, before the 1:00pm Tech Talk and the regular meeting and music commences from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.

Dear members and friends of Sydney Audio Club Inc.,

The next club meeting for 2025 will be held on Sunday 15th June with the presentation of Secret Chord Analogue’s Confluence open baffle loudspeaker system, Elekit TU-8550 tube phono preamplifier SX, Elekit TU-8850 tube power amplifier and a Thorens TD126 turntable with an SME titanium nitride tonearm fitted with a Shure M95ED Moving Magnet cartridge courtesy of Stephen Price from Secret Chord Analogue.

There will also be a TechTalk this month starting at 1pm to explain the benefits of using Record Restore to improve and maintain vinyl records. There will be prizes for those who attend the TechTalk so be sure to attend for the chance to grab yours.

The doors will be open from around 12:30pm to meet and chat with members before the meeting starts promptly at 1:00pm. If you happen to be late, just quietly slide into a seat and join the meeting. There will be an afternoon tea break mid-afternoon before the next section of the meeting begins with a presentation of Secret Chord Analogue’s music system. The meeting will finish at 5:00pm.

Details of the system for June 15:

Turntable: Thorens TD126 turntable | SME Titanium nitride tonearm | Shure M95ED MM cartridge

Phono Pre-Amp: Elekit TU-8550 tube phono preamplifier SX.
This is a preamplifier kit with a built-in phono equalizer amplifier (MM cartridges), configured with tubes for all the signal stages. (In these two respects it differs from the TU-8500).

The CR-type RIAA equalizer circuit, which is considered to have excellent sound quality, is used. Furthermore, all time constant capacitors are DC bias superimposed, which is considered desirable for sound quality.

Amplifier: Elekit TU-8850 tube power amp
The new TU-8850 power amp from Elekit is a 'tube roller's dream', an amplifier kit which allows users to try various types of octal base (US8P) pentode and major beam tubes. Get more from the music you love with this exciting new Elekit design.

In this amplifier, the bias condition is kept at an optimal level for the output tubes installed without a complicated bias adjustment by "Active Automatic Bias Adjustment System". In addition, the amplifier is equipped with a power mode switch on the top panel. Selecting from 3 operation modes, HIGH, MID and LOW, users can try various types of output tubes, small to medium tubes, such as 6L6 to bigger ones like KT150, KT170, etc.

Loudspeakers: Secret Chord Analogue Confluence Decore open baffle loudspeaker system.
The SCA Confluence Decore Loudspeaker is possibly the most musical loudspeaker you'll ever hear. The open-baffle configuration gives full voice to the capabilities of the full range, high-sensitivity 15 inch drivers creating a listening experience akin to being in the front row.The Confluence system includes the SCA Seamless Sub for a superb full frequency presentation.

The final section of the music session is designed to help you evaluate the system with music that you are familiar with. All members and guests are welcome to offer music to share with us all. This is a vinyl record meeting only, so please bring along your favourite music on LP to share with the rest of the attendees. All we ask is that the music and recordings be interesting. We will ask you to tell us a little about the artist/recording before it is played. Tracks over 6 minutes will be cut short to give everyone a fair go.

Whether you are a novice or a seasoned veteran, you will have the opportunity to listen, learn and share your experiences with others. Feel free to come and hear the capabilities of the system, or to just share the experience with like-minded music lovers in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Guests are welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don’t need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound.
