Dear members and friends of Sydney Audio Club Inc.
The next Club meeting for 2025 will be held on Sunday 18th May with the presentation of the flagship PSB Synchrony T800 Tower Floorstanding Speakers partnered with the NAD M66 BLUOS Streaming DAC-Preamplifier (hailed by SoundStage as the Network Product of the Year for 2024) and the NAD M23 stereo power amplifier supplied by Bejoy Babu from Amber Technology. Nathan Fowle from Amber Technology will also join us for the meeting to answer any product questions.
There will be no TechTalk this month.
The doors will be open from around 1.15 pm to meet and chat with members before the meeting starts promptly at 2.00 pm. There will be an afternoon tea break mid-afternoon before the meeting finishes at 5.00 pm. Guests are welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound. If you happen to be late just quietly slide into a seat and join the meeting.
To our guests, we respect the music being played so please refrain from talking while the music is on. You will find there are chances for plenty of happy banter between tracks.
Details of the system for May 18:
Loudspeakers: PSB Synchrony T800 Tower Floorstanding Speakers in satin walnut finish
The flagship Synchrony T800 Tower Floorstanding Speakers represent the most advanced application of True to Nature sound principles in PSB’s 50 year history, with a caliber of micro-detail and realism that has never been heard before.
RRP: $20,999.000
Pre-amplifier: NAD M66 BLUOS STREAMING DAC-PREAMPLIFIER
Hailed by SoundStage as the Network Product of the Year for 2024. Not only is the Masters M66 BluOS streaming DAC-preamplifier the most advanced preamplifier NAD has ever offered, it represents an entirely new class of hi-fi separate components. In addition to a plethora of inputs, including MM/MC phono and HDMI eARC, the M66 incorporates audiophile-grade ESS Sabre ES9038PRO DAC and ES9822PRO ADC chips and a high-resolution multi-room music streamer.
Along with the full-bandwidth version of Dirac Live Room Correction, the M66 features Dirac Live Bass Control, allowing independent control of each connected subwoofer, for smooth, consistent response throughout your listening room. The combination of Dirac Live Room Correction and Dirac Live Bass Control enables the M66 to deliver more accurate in-room performance than any two-channel component ever offered.
With its elegant aluminium casework, super-smooth digital volume control, and vibrant 7″ touchscreen, the M66 exudes class and quality. Visually, sonically, and technologically, it’s an ideal match to NAD’s award-winning Masters M23 power amplifier. Of course, the Masters M66 BluOS Streaming DAC-Preamplifier can be paired with any high-performance amplifier.
Power Amplifier: NAD M23 Stereo Power Amplifier
Building on NAD’s long tradition of identifying and developing cutting-edge amplification technology, the M23 HybridDigital Stereo Power Amplifier features Purifi Audio’s Eigentakt™ design, a once-in-a-decade innovation that virtually eliminates harmonic and intermodulation distortion. Noise is inaudible, for a completely black background and exquisite micro-detail. Conservatively rated at 2x200W continuous into 8 ohms and 2x380W into 4 ohms, the M23 can deliver live performance levels through any loudspeaker. With its unique combination of features, performance, and value, the M23 represents the new benchmark for the stereo power amplifier.
The M23 employs Eigentakt™ class-D amplifier modules manufactured by NAD under license from Denmark’s Purifi Audio. Purifi’s load-invariant design provides wide, flat frequency response, even into challenging loudspeaker loads. Noise, harmonic distortion, and IM distortion are virtually unmeasurable at all frequencies and output levels. Another benefit of the Eigentakt™ design is extremely low output impedance and correspondingly high damping factor, for iron-clad control of the loudspeaker output. NAD combines the Eigentakt™ design with our own sophisticated switched-mode power supply, which can provide additional reserves of current when needed. Amazingly powerful and transparent, the M23 can deliver 2x260W of peak power into 8 ohms and 2x520W into 4 ohms.

The second half of the music session is designed to help you evaluate the system with music that you are familiar with. All members and guests are welcome to offer music to share with us all. So bring along your favourite music to play on CD or USB, or Streaming requests.
All we ask is that the music and recordings be interesting. We'll ask you to tell us a little about the artist/recording before it is played. Tracks over 6 minutes will be faded out, to give everyone a fair go. We will also have a club member act as Disc Jockey for this session.
Whether you are a novice or a seasoned veteran, you will have the opportunity to listen, learn and share your experiences with others. Feel free to come and hear the capabilities of the system, or to just share the experience with like-minded music lovers in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Guests are welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound.
Please bring your music to share with other club members, or select from streaming during the tea break.
