Dear members and friends of Sydney Audio Club Inc.
The next Club meeting for 2024 will be held on Sunday 14th April with another all Australian presentation by the Award Winning team of Brad Serhan and Morris Swift partnered with Kim Ryrie of DEQX. The Serhan Swift mμ2 has just won the Sound + Image Award for Standmount Speaker of the Year 2024.
The TechTalk this meeting is titled ‘Digital Audio 101…0010101110010110010’ or How does digital audio actually work? How do digital and analogue formats compare? How do they sound and why?
Dispelling the myths in a language you can understand presented by Morris Swift.
The doors will be open from around 12.30 pm to meet and chat with members before the TechTalk starts at 1.00 pm. If you happen to be late just quietly slide into a seat and join the discussion. As our club is based on mutual respect, especially in these open presentations, let us remain respectful towards one another’s views and opinions.
There will be a short break after the TechTalk before the Sydney Audio Club Annual General Meeting starts at 2.00 pm. The equipment and music demonstration will follow directly after the AGM and there will be an afternoon tea break before the meeting finishes at 5.00 pm. Guests are welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound. If you are new to the club or are coming for the first time, don’t be intimidated by the AGM. We already have nominations for all positions and you may get to see how we run.
Details of the system for April 14:
Loudspeakers: Serhan Swift mμ3F floorstander
The Serhan Swift long-awaited floorstander, the mμ3F was recently launched at the Sydney HiFi Show last weekend. It embodies everything you’ve come to know and love in their world acclaimed mμ2 Mk II standmount speaker – precision, musicality, big sound - just more! Plus more sensitivity/acoustic output, more bass extension, more power handling.
Amplifier: DEQX Gen-4 LS200 amplifier/streamer/processor
This unit provides a stunning, powerful integrated amplifier with almost immeasurable distortion; ESS Sabre ADC and DAC; Volumio Roon enabled streaming – in other words, a complete package. DEQX world leading speaker calibration, room correction and subwoofer integration DSP software and hardware is featured. While overcoming most room and subwoofer problems, DEQX have also managed to all but eradicate the distortions and artifacts that plague almost all other DSP ‘s, resulting in sound that is supremely accurate, while also musical, engaging and never fatiguing.
DEQX Gen-4 hardware combines numerous input options with the highest level of audiophile transparency. It incorporates extremely low noise power supplies and low jitter master clocks driving state-of-the-art ESS PRO DACS and ADCs. The second half of the music session is designed to help you evaluate the system with music that you are familiar with. All members and guests are welcome to offer music to share with us all. So bring along your favourite music to play on CD or usb or speak to Glenn to load your streaming selection. CD – usb input will be via the Reavon UBR-X200 UHD Universal Blu-Ray Player purchased by our club with the generous assistance of Len Wallis Audio.
All we ask is that the music and recordings be interesting. We'll ask you to tell us a little about the artist/recording before it is played. Tracks over 6 minutes will be faded out, to give everyone a fair go. We will also have a club member act as Disc Jockey for this session.
Whether you are a novice or a seasoned veteran, you will have the opportunity to listen, learn and share your experiences with others. Feel free to come and hear the capabilities of the system, or to just share the experience with like-minded music lovers in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Guests are welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound.
Please bring your music to share with other club members.
