Sydney Audio Club Meeting - February 2024
Sunday 11th February 2024: Our February meeting will feature HiFi equipment presented by Rick Stepanov from Hi End Audio.
There will also be a Tech Talk prior, from 1:00pm, on: Audio Specs vs the Real World.
The doors will be open from 12:30pm to meet and chat with members before the Tech Talk starts at 1:00pm.
Dear members and friends of Sydney Audio Club Inc.
The next Club meeting for 2024 will be held on Sunday 11th February with a presentation by Rick Stepanov of Hi End Audio with equipment that has never previously been featured at a club meeting. His TechTalk will be about published audio specifications versus what you can hear when you actually listen to the product - “Audio Specs. v. the Real World”.
The doors will be open from around 12.30 pm to meet and chat with members before the TechTalk starts at 1.00 pm. If you happen to be late just quietly slide into a seat and join the discussion. As our club is based on mutual respect, especially in these open presentations, let us remain respectful towards one another’s views and opinions.
There will be a short break after the TechTalk before the meeting starts at 2.00 pm and there will be an afternoon tea break before the meeting finishes at 5.00 pm. Guests are welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound.

Amplifier: Vitus Audio RI-101MK2 Network with DAC/Streamer Amplifier
This 300 Watt powerhouse will astound you with the sheer quality of its sound. The RI has purity, transparency, and cleanliness, usually a Class A design reserve. It has astonishing levels of grip and slam but is also capable of extreme delicacy. The RI-101 seems to tick every box people are generally looking for in high-end audio.
The high-resolution volume control from the Signature and Masterpiece line stages. An all-new preamplifier stage powered by a complex and lower noise regulated power supply. The RI-101 provides even greater transparency, blackness, and neutrality than before. The volume steps are also more acceptable on the technical and build sides, and the revised casing gives even better cooling.
A new supercharged network DAC+Streamer option is also available. This option is an entirely new design derived from the expensive standalone DACs in the Vitus catalogue and employs the flagship ESS chip with Vitus’s streamer, which has full DoP support. Airplay, Roon, MQA, Tidal, and Spotify are also supported via the Mconnect app.

The second half of the music session is designed to help you evaluate the system with music that you are familiar with. All members and guests are welcome to offer music to share with us all. So bring along your favourite music to play on CD or usb or speak to Rick to load your streaming selection. CD – usb input will be via the Reavon UBR-X200 UHD Universal Blu-Ray Player purchased by our club with the generous assistance of Len Wallis Audio.

All we ask is that the music and recordings be interesting. We'll ask you to tell us a little about the artist/recording before it is played. Tracks over 6 minutes will be faded out, to give everyone a fair go. We will also have a club member act as Disc Jockey for this session.
Whether you are a novice or a seasoned veteran, you will have the opportunity to listen, learn and share your experiences with others. Feel free to come and hear the capabilities of the system, or to just share the experience with like-minded music lovers in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Guests are welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound.
Please bring your music to share with other club members.
