Sydney Audio Club Meeting - July 2024
Sunday 14th July 2024: This meeting is being hosted by Audio Connection and will be held on-site at Audio Connection's store: 515 Parramatta Road, Leichhardt.
Dear members of Sydney Audio Club Inc.
** This meeting is specifically for members by invitation - Now Fully Subscribed **
By special arrangement and invitation, the next Club meeting for 2024 will be held on Sunday 14th July in the Audio Connection Showroom, 515 Parramatta Road Leichhardt commencing at 1 pm. There are only 40 places available to be divided into 4 groups of 10. Each group will rotate through four informative talks, covering a range of topics and A/B demonstrations conducted by the Audio Connection staff. (see below)
It is essential that you RSVP to this event and make sure you receive an email confirming you are in the ‘Top 40’ before turning up. We anticipate that this special event meeting will fill up quickly so replies will be strictly confirmed in the order that they are received. We will create a waiting list if you initially miss out on the ‘Top 40’ so if you say you are coming and then find you have to cancel, it is important to let us know early so we can fill your place.
If the world will stop revolving because you cannot be in a group without a special buddy for a few hours, please let us know when you RSVP.
The doors will be open from 12.30 pm and the formal meeting should finish by 3.30 pm (depending on how quickly the groups can move between the rooms.)
Parking is available on Elswick Street or Parramatta Road, Leichhardt.
Refreshments will be provided by Audio Connection.
Details of the presentations:
Acoustics – The room plays a significant role in the final system performance. Even placing the highest performing products in an untreated room will result in a lacklustre outcome. In Audio Connection’s Gallery, the team will explain in no-nonsense terms what the field of acoustics involves, the impact of acoustics and how to get started with treating your room.
Chassis Isolation Benefits: Being able to control not only the internal vibrations of your components but shielding it from external vibrations caused by your speakers plays a significant role in the ultimate performance of your system. The Audio Connection team will demonstrate a range of chassis control products from well-known US manufacturer, HRS.
A contentious topic – does burning in a cable make a difference featuring Nordost: Cables are one of the most hotly debated topics in our industry, and cable burn in even more so. The team at Audio Connection will show the benefits of cables and cable burn-in in a controlled demonstration environment and give you the opportunity to let your ears be the judge.
Noise reduction in the Ethernet path featuring Waversa: While its generally accepted that noise in the analog domain is not desired, something a bit less understood is how noise in the digital domain can affect your audio. Waversa produce a range of ethernet grounding and noise reduction devices, which really must be heard to be believed.
While Audio Connection have picked specific products within their portfolio, the emphasis for the day is on brand-agnostic concepts, rather than specific manufacturer benefits, so that you may take the experience and understanding with you to apply in a broader sense.
They feel that the acoustically controlled environment of each demonstration room and small group size will give you the best opportunity to hear and evaluate the benefits and broaden your understanding of certain concepts.
