Sydney Audio Club Meeting - June 2021
All vintage home grown meeting
Due to COVID Restriction uncertainties the Committee organised an all Sydney all vintage home grown meeting to avoid any interstate travel issues. The previously scheduled presentation, Alan March from MARCH~audio, is still planning to come to Sydney for a future meeting.
In response to many requests for a ‘gear comparison’ or ‘shoot out’ demonstration we compared two very differently engineered record players. We listened to the B&O Beogram 4000 Tangential Record Player and the
Linn LP12, and we also encouraged and played our members treasured LPs at the meeting.
Turntables:
Amplification:
Meridian 206 CD player. Circa 1990
Speakers:
There was also be a pair of Magnepan ribbon planars and a home built amplifier for comparisons.
The second half of the music sessions was our popular BYO. Members and guests were welcome
to offer music to share with us all. All we asked was that the music and recordings be interesting, and
for you to tell us a little about the artist/recording before it is played. Tracks over 6 minutes were
faded out, to give everyone a fair go.
