Sydney Audio Club Meeting - June 2024
Sunday 16th June 2024: David Burgchard, from Space Hi-Fi, will be presenting a system comprising Monitor Audio Platinum 300 Floorstanding speakers, matched with 2 Canor AI 1.10 Tube Integrated Amplifiers, a LUMIN U2 Network Streamer and a Canor CD 1.10 Tube CD Player / DAC.
There will also be a Tech Talk prior, by Morris Swift, on 'An amplifier class about amplifier class' covering an introduction to the fundamental principles of amplifiers, tubes and solid state, and explaining the various classes, design differences, features and performance.
The doors will be open from 12:30pm to meet and chat with members before the Tech Talk commences at 1:00pm, then followed by the Space Hi-Fi demonstration and music to continue from around 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
Dear members and friends of Sydney Audio Club Inc.
The next Club meeting for 2024 will be held on Sunday 16th June with the presentation by David Burgchard, from Space Hi-Fi in Chester Hill, of Monitor Audio speakers driven by the Canor AI tube amplifiers.
There will be a TechTalk ‘An amplifier class about amplifier class’ covering an introduction to the fundamental principles of amplifiers, tubes and solid state, and explaining the various classes, design differences, features and performance by Morris Swift.
The doors will be open from around 12:30 pm to meet and chat with members before the TechTalk starts at 1:00 pm. If you happen to be late, just quietly slide into a seat and join the discussion. As our club is based on mutual respect, especially in these open presentations, let us remain respectful towards one another’s views and opinions.
There will be one break after the TechTalk before the meeting starts around 2:15 pm. After listening to much feedback and suggestions from members we are trying a new format without the second afternoon tea break. The meeting will finish at 5:00 pm. Guests are welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don’t need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound.

Amplifier: Canor AI 1.10 Tube Integrated Amplifier x 2 (Running as Monoblocks)
An integrated tube amplifier with an entirely new topology equipped with KT88 high-power tubes. The amplifier operates in a pure class A with an auto-bias function, and with cathode feedback. Instant switching between triode and ultra-linear mode with an option of synchronous control enables the use of two amplifiers in a monoblock mode without the need of using an extra preamplifier and that is a Master/Slave mode with an output power of 80 W per channel - as will be heard here.
The Canor AI 1.10 contains a Voltage Stabilisation Circuit (VSC) circuit, which watches the value of the input voltage in real-time and automatically switches the adequate input on the input transformer (where there are 3 primary windings - 230V, 240V and 250V). That leads to better performance and prolongs the tubes' lifetime.
Perfect separation of channels by using a relay attenuator / standalone blocks for each channel/gain control by 1 dB and maximum attenuation of 63 dB
Filter capacitors with high capacitance deliver energy to accurate and tight basses

The second half of the music session is designed to help you evaluate the system with music that you are familiar with. All members and guests are welcome to offer music to share with us all. So bring along your favourite music to play on CD or USB or speak to David to load your streaming selection.
All we ask is that the music and recordings be interesting. We'll ask you to tell us a little about the artist/recording before it is played. Tracks over 6 minutes will be faded out, to give everyone a fair go. We will also have a club member act as Disc Jockey for this session.
Whether you are a novice or a seasoned veteran, you will have the opportunity to listen, learn and share your experiences with others. Feel free to come and hear the capabilities of the system, or to just share the experience with like-minded music lovers in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Guests are welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound.
Please bring your music to share with other club members.
Venue: Mathews Room, Epping Creative Centre, Dence Park
Address: 26 Stanley Road, Epping
When: Sunday 16th June 2024.
Doors open from 12.30 pm to meet and chat with members, TechTalk starts at 1.00pm, music presentation starts at 2.00pm. Meeting finishes at 5pm with an afternoon tea break.
It is a requirement of entry that you sign-in in the visitors’ book. You are not required to wear a mask but you may wish to do so.
Hope to see you there on Sunday 16th.
