Sydney Audio Club Meeting March 8 2020 - Cameron Keating of MaxMedia
Dear members and friends of Sydney Audio Club,
For our March club meeting we are very pleased to have Cameron Keating of MaxMedia come back to Sydney to present the Avantgarde Acoustic UNO XD horn speakers, driven by the Lab 12 Integre4 power amplifier, COS Engineering d2 DACs and the Innuos Zen Mini MkIII Music Server.
He will also be running the Innuos Zen Mini MkIII Music Server with the new Innuos Phoenix USB Reclocker. This would be its first outing here in Australia.
Cameron has been well received when he has presented equipment from MaxMedia to our club at least four times before so it promises to be another outstanding meeting.

The second half of the music sessions will be our popular BYO. Members and
guests are welcome to offer music to share with us all. So bring along your
favourite music on CD, SACD or USB thumb/flash drives.
All we ask is that the music and recordings be interesting. We'll
ask you to tell us a little about the artist/recording before it is played.
Tracks over 6 minutes will be faded out, to give everyone a fair go.
Whether you are a novice or a seasoned veteran, you will have the
opportunity to listen, learn and share your experiences with others.
Feel free to come and hear the capabilities of the system, or to just share the
experience with like-minded music lovers in a friendly and relaxed
atmosphere.
Guests are welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don't need to know
anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound.
Venue: Epping Creative Centre, Dence Park
Address: 26 Stanley Road, Epping
When: Sunday 8th March 2020
Doors open from 1pm to meet and chat with members.

Follow-up Report
The March meeting was very well attended and another enjoyable and interesting meeting.
Cameron Keating from MaxMedia brought a complete system including the Avantgarde Acoustic Uno XD speakers, Lab 12 Integre4 amplifier, Innuos Zen Mini Mk3 music Server, Innuos Zenith Mk3 music server, a COS Engineering D2 DAC and the first Australian demonstration of the Innuos Pheonix reclocker.
Horn speakers traditionally can be polarising in terms of their sonic character, but the Avantgarde Acoustic Uno XD speakers do not have the usual characteristics associated with horn speakers. The speakers are manufactured in Germany and the high quality finish reflect this.
To demonstrate the difference in the Innuos product range and in particular the benefit of the Innuos Phoenix reclocker, the meeting started with a comparison by playing the same two tracks across products. The Uno XD speakers with their high transparency provided the perfect tool for this demonstration and it was obvious the benefit of the Innuos Phoenix reclocker provided. As one member commented, “it was like they were different tracks”.
With the recent understanding and developments in digital reproduction it was timely to have a presentation of the latest Innuos products, a general overview of music servers and of recent technology.
Thanks again to Cameron from MaxMedia who drove all the way from Melbourne with a complete system and for his detailed explanation on the equipment and answering the many questions from the club members.
Some of the feedback comments follow:
