Sydney Audio Club Meeting - May 2023
Sunday 21st May 2023: Melbourne based, 3SB will be presenting their 3SB Audio Keystone and Bedrock active speaker systems. 3SB Audio will also be conducting a 'Tech Talk' on The Design and Development of the Keystone and Bedrock speakers.
Dear members and friends of Sydney Audio Club,
The next Club meeting for 2023 will be held on Sunday 21st May with active speaker products showcased from 3SB Audio, from Melbourne.
Details of the system:
The 3SB Audio Keystone and Bedrock speakers is a modular, active loudspeaker system that consists of speakers, amplifiers, Digital to Analog converts and DSP.
The platform has been designed and developed around a core principle of 1:1 for Driver : Power Amplifier : DAC, thereby enabling complete separation between the signal and resources involved in the audio path.
At the Sydney Hifi Club meeting on 21st May 2023, the “Three Sad Bastards” (Aris, John and Trevor) will demonstrate a full 3SB Loudspeaker system involving the following:
Keystone Loudspeaker: Compact Full-range Speaker
A compact 5-way/7-driver loudspeaker with advanced bass shaping to minimise room interaction of low frequencies.
Bedrock Sub Woofer Array:
Advanced Bass Performance
A bass enhancer and expander with 8 subwoofers designed to enhance the presentation and presence of lower frequencies.
Ochto Amplifier:
8 channels x 250W power amplifier that drive each Keystone and Bedrock loudspeaker.
Cardia DSP:
A 32 channel DSP using Audio over IP for connection between DSP and DAC.
Current generation is based on 32channel RME professional DAC and macOS for DSP processing.
Next generation (in R&D presently) is based on 4 x 8ch DAC with Linux open source platform for DSP processing.
For people who would like to play files, please bring in a memory stick and arrive 10-15 minutes before the meeting and help copy the files into a temporary folder in the laptop to save valuable meeting time.
The second half of the music sessions will be our popular BYO. Members and guests are welcome to offer music to share with us all. So bring along your favourite music on CD, SACD or USB thumb/flash drive can also be played.
All we ask is that the music and recordings be interesting. We'll ask you to tell us a little about the artist/recording before it is played. Tracks over 6 minutes will be faded out, to give everyone a fair go.
Whether you are a novice or a seasoned veteran, you will have the opportunity to listen, learn and share your experiences with others. Feel free to come and hear the capabilities of the system, or to just share the experience with like-minded music lovers in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Guests are welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound.
Venue: Epping Creative Centre, Dence Park
Address: 26 Stanley Road, Epping
When: Sunday 21st May 2023.
Doors open from 12.00 pm to meet and chat with members before the meeting.
The 'Tech Talk' on The Design and Development of the Keystone and Bedrock speakers will precede the meeting, from 12:30 - 1:30pm.
Music Meeting starts at 2pm and finishes at 5pm.
Please sign-in in the visitors’ book. You are not required to wear a mask but you may wish to do so.
Hope to see you there on Sunday.
