Sydney Audio Club Meeting - November 2022

13th November 2022 Meeting: David Corazza, from Sound and Music (from Melbourne), will be featuring the Dutch & Dutch 8c active speakers, supported by a Benchmark PreAmp and DAC3.

Prior to the monthly meeting David will also be conducting a Tech Talk on "The Room in HiFi", examining the impact The Room dynamics has on the listening experience.

Dear members and friends of Sydney Audio Club,

The November 13th meeting of Sydney Audio Club will feature David Corazza, from Sound-Music in Melbourne, who will be demonstrating the remarkable Dutch & Dutch 8c active speakers with native streaming. Also on show will be the Benchmark DAC 3 HCG to be paired with our Reavon UBR-X200 UHD Universal Blu-Ray Player for members who bring music on CDs or usb to audition.

The Covid-Safe Rules as set down by the Epping Creative Centre still require that you sign in the Visitor’s Book and notify us if you contract COVID within the week following the meeting. Wearing a mask is not mandated but it is recommended.

Following the Tech Talk session last month, where Paul Bryant introduced the recording studio environment and the studio engineer’s mixing desk environment, David Corazza will develop these topics and make a start on ‘The Room Environment’. This is very much in tune with the Dutch & Dutch 8c philosophy and from previous experience at our club meetings David is a very knowledgeable and engaging presenter. Prepare to be stimulated.

Please arrive around 12.15 pm for this unique interactive discussion. If you happen to be late just quietly slide into a seat and join the discussion. As our club is based on mutual respect, especially in these open presentations, let us remain respectful towards one another’s views and opinions.

There will be a break from 1.30 pm – 2 pm to grab a bite to eat and a drink before the music meeting starts around 2 pm.

Guests are welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound.

Details of the system:

Speakers:
The Dutch & Dutch 8c active speakers (made in the Netherlands) are optimized to work together with the acoustics of the room. 8c’s adapt to the room they are in and can be placed (very) close to room boundaries without losing performance. To achieve this, 8c’s combine a proprietary waveguide tweeter with an acoustic cardioid midrange, boundary-coupled bass drivers and active room matching. The result: superb acoustical reproduction in any room. All components match each other perfectly and together deliver a “big sound” at 106 dB continuously from 35 Hz upwards, while keeping the signal-to-noise ratio very high.

Amplifier: Not required

Members and guests are welcome to offer music to share with us all. For those who bring CDs or music on USB we will have the Reavon UBR-X200 UHD Universal Blu-Ray Player purchased by our club with the generous assistance of Len Wallis Audio.

So, bring along your favourite music on CD, SACD, USB thumb/flash drives or your favourite track on the streaming service. All we ask is that the music and recordings be interesting. We'll ask you to tell us a little about the artist/recording before it is played. Tracks over 6 minutes will be faded out, to give everyone a fair go.

Whether you are a novice or a seasoned veteran, you will have the opportunity to listen, learn and share your experiences with others.

Feel free to come and hear the capabilities of the system, or to just share the experience with like-minded music lovers in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Venue: Epping Creative Centre, Dence Park

Address: 26 Stanley Road, Epping

When: Sunday 13th November 2022

Doors open to members and friends from 12.15pm for the TechTalk discussion starting at 12.30 pm “The Room Environment” presented by David Corazza. If you are late, please sign the visitor’s book and just quietly slide into a seat and join the discussion.

From 1.30 to 2 pm there will be a break to meet and chat with members and tea, coffee and fruit juice are provided.

The music presentation starts at 2 pm and finishes at 5 pm.

Guests are welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound.

Hope to see you there.
