November 2016 SAC Meeting
Our November club meeting is the last Sydney Audio Club for the calendar year. (We’ll be back January 15th 2017!) For November, we are very pleased to have Cameron Pope of Krispy Audio (http://www.krispyaudio.com.au/pages/About-Us.html) present. Cameron has presented to the Sydney Audio Club a few times before, each time bringing in a totally different and great system. This time Cameron is bringing in another impressive system based on Tune Audio speakers. And Cameron will be bringing in an excellent turntable so we’ll hear lots of great vinyl.
Details of the system….

Note: We will also have an Oppo BDP-105D Universal player on hand to allow the playing of CD/SACD and USB flash drives.
The second half of the music sessions will be our popular BYO. Members and guests are welcome to offer music to share with us all. So bring along your favourite music on vinyl, CD/SACD or USB flash drive. All we ask is that the music and recordings be interesting. We'll ask you to tell us a little about the artist/recording before it is played. Tracks over 6 minutes will be faded out, to give everyone a fair go.
Whether you are a novice or a seasoned veteran, you will have the opportunity to listen, learn and share your experiences with others. Feel free to come and hear the capabilities of the system, or to just share the experience with like-minded music lovers in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Guests are welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound.
Venue: Epping Creative Centre, Dence Park
Address: 26 Stanley Road, Epping
When: Sunday 20th November 2016
Doors open 1pm
Meeting starts at 2pm

Follow up Report
Hi all,
Just a follow-up after our club meeting yesterday. Good sound, good company, good music, good food..! What a great way to end the calendar year.
First up, we had our Christmas BBQ. The weather cooperated this year and we were able to have our BBQ out in the open rather than under the canopy of the front entrance. We had a great variety of sausages this year: bratwurst, kransky, beef, chicken, lamb. Plus heaps of onions and two mountainous salads plus nibbles and beer, coke, lemonade. All for only $5. We had about 35 people enjoy the BBQ (out of 45 attendees), even so, we actually got finished earlier than normal and got our club meeting under way just after 2:00.
Once back in the Mathews room, we had our AGM. This was the usual affair where George dissolved the Committee and I then proceed to read the nominations and take the votes. Our Income Statement was also acknowledged and approved by vote. What was different was that one fellow wrote on his Feedback form that he “loved the AGM”. I think that is a first…
Tom then introduced Julian Gilchrist and Paul Jones from Kool Records – these guys had driven up from Canberra with a ton of vinyl, just for our club meeting. They brought heaps of blues, soul, BAM (Black American Music), Funk, Zydeco, Ska and jazz with smatterings of other genres. All for very reasonable prices. Thanks guys.
Cameron Pope from Krispy Audio was the guest presenter on the day, and as usual, be brought lots of great gear. For the first time in quite a few meetings, we had a turntable – a very nice VPI Prime with a Shelter MC 5000 cartridge. We also had an Oppo on hand but it didn’t see much action. The vast majority of the music we played was on vinyl. Cameron explained all the equipment and then played us some tracks.
Our Member’s Music Session was then presented by Ray Eade – all vinyl again.
After our break we had a raffle of all the door prizes. We had 4 prizes – the main prize was the AudioQuest JitterBug which Brett won. After that, we settled into our BYO session. All was good. Well, I suppose it could have been a lot cooler in our room – the 30+ degree heat beating down on our metal roof made for a very uncomfortable room. But for the first time ever, the votes to turn the air-con on won out! (It’s noisy so normally we turn it off when the music is on).
We wrapped up our meeting around 5PM with a track by the late and very great Leonard Cohen.
Here are a few comments from our Feedback forms:
“Happy I sat in first row. BBQ was a bonus.”
“Fantastic. Happy New Year.”
“Fun as usual”
“Very pleasant sound. Would a large bass unit help? “
“Great Year for SAC. Merry Xmas to the awesome committee and thanks for excellent salads.”
“Great Atmosphere”
“Speakers good … Enjoyable meeting.”
“Good to have system explained. Keep AC on and bring on the dancing girls.”
